Description of the Project:

Metro Line 5 – Phase 2 (Bay Hien intersection – New Can Giuoc Bus Station) belongs to HCMC Urban Railway Master Plan in accordance with the Decision No.568/QD-TTg dated 08/04/2013 by the Prime Minister regarding approval of the Adjusted HCMC Transport Development Planning up to the year 2020 and with vision after the year 2020.

Total length of Metro Line 5 is about 23.39km and divided into two phases:

  • Phase 1 (Bay Hien Intersection – Sai Gon Bridge) has a length of about 8.89 km (including 7.46 km underground section and 1.43 km elevated section). Number of station: 9 stations (including 8 underground stations and 01 elevated station). Mini depot at Hoang Van Thu park with an area of 2 ha.
  • Phase 2 (Bay Hien intersection – New Can Giuoc Bus Station and Da Phuoc depot) has a length of about 14.5 km (including 8.9 km underground section and 5.6 km elevated section). Number of station: 13 stations (including 8 underground stations and 5 elevated stations) and Depot located in Da Phuoc commune, Binh Chanh District with an area of 31.68 ha.
  • Alignment: New Can Giuoc Bus Station– National Highway No.50 – Tung Thien Vuong – Phu Dong Thien Vuong – Ly Thuong Kiet – Hoang Van Thu – Phan Dang Luu – Bach Dang – Dien Bien Phu – Sai Gon Bridge.

The Consultant completed prefeasibility study report and feasibility study report to submit to the competent authorities for the approval of investment policy and it is also a basis to call for the investment from investors, sponsors for the implementation of the HCMC Urban Railway Construction Project, Line 5 – Phase 2 (Bay Hien intersection – New Can Giuoc Bus Station).
