Ho Chi Minh city is facing with frequent traffic congestion. To tackle this problem, Public Transport Management Center under HCMC Department of Transport undertakes a bus priority pilot project that will implement two bus routes on Dien Bien Phu Street and Vo Thi Sau Street.

The Project aims to construct a bus rapit transit (BRT) corridor between Binh Duong New City and Suoi Tien, HCMC. The route is about 30.8 km.

 HCMC Green Transport Development Project includes 2 components:

• Component 1: Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor development: Construction of BRT corridor No.1 on the Vo Van Kiet - Mai Chi Tho Boulevard (approximately 23 km) and the associated infrastructure such as stations, pedestrian bridges, terminals, technical facility and modern management system. This component will also include investments and operation of BRT buses, as proposed to use compressed natural gas (CNG).
• Component 2: Institutional Strengthening: This component will finance institutional strengthening and capacity building activities essential to the successful implementation of BRT route, and, more broadly to improve transport and urban development planning in HCMC.
